Sunday mornings fashion institution for parisians, the brunch - contraction of breakfast and lunch - can be a delightful moment. Gathering of the food lovers and sweet tooths, you must be very choosy with the ingredients who offer. How many restaurants sell tasteless cheese and cooked meats, disgustiong fruit extract and called it a brunch ? Yes, prefer a limited choice of the highess quality and avoid no extravagance.

Discover the basic ingredients (among them THE ingredient you can't forget for a real brunch) and the recipe of the day.

Basic ingredients of a good brunch :

The continental breakfast :
- hot beverages : coffee, tea, hot chocolate...
- cool drinks : fresh fruit juices, limonade...
- bread (keep the toaster close to the table)
- butter, honey (acacia is my favourite honey) and jam (homemade jam, it's essential)
and extra ingredients :
- viennoiserie, brioche...

Other classical products in a brunch :
- cooked meats (bacon of course, and also different types of plain or smocked ham - not only garlic sausage!)
- cheeses (from the cheese maker it's so better, if it is to expensive anyway, take only one portion)
- smocked salmon slices for the smarter brunch (with champagne, why not?)
- cooked or raw vegetables
- fresh fruits or fruit salad
- cottage cheese, faisselle cheese, yoghurt

But what is the ingredient without which a brunch is definitly not a brunch ?
The egg ! Fried or scrambled egg, boiled egg with buttered finger of bred, façon mollet, omelette... eggs unite sweet and salty dishes in a festive and tasty celebration.

Recipe of the day (serving two) :
- 4 slices of a spanish ham
- 2 small zucchini
- 2 eggs
- 1 endive

Prepare all the ingredients. Cut roughly the zucchini in stick (cut it sideways in 4 parts and then chop it). Leave aside.Take 8 endive leaves and keep them aside.

Note : Ingredients will be cooked successively in the same fryer and served warm (not hot). But you can also cook everything in the same time and serve hot.

Brown the ham in the dry fryer. Put aside.
Cook the zucchini in the same pan with little olive oil during about 5 minutes. Keep it warm aside.
Crack the eggs in the fryer and cook it scrambled. You must cook it shortlyto avoid the eggs from shrivelling up.

Put scrambled eggs in each endive leaf. Serve immediatly with grilled ham and zucchini.

Note #2 : The ham is very salty so you do not need to add salt to the other ingredients.
